Allied Real Estate / Panorama Mall
CCTV Network & Server Infrastructure
194 Camera Nodes & VMS Server
Completed (November 2024)
As one of Muscat’s premier retail and entertainment destinations, Panorama Mall experiences massive daily foot traffic. For the management team at Allied Real Estate, maintaining a flawless surveillance and security system is not just a facility requirement; it is a critical operational liability. Modern retail environments require absolute visibility to protect high-value tenants, manage crowd control, and ensure public safety. To maintain their premier status, the mall required an enterprise-grade CCTV infrastructure capable of high-definition, un-interrupted recording across the entire property.
As the facility's security demands grew, their legacy system began to bottleneck. The existing CCTV server room was running at maximum capacity, struggling to process and store the vast amount of data generated by the mall's expanding network. The primary challenge was executing a major upgrade of the core servers and transitioning 194 individual camera feeds to a new Video Management System (VMS). Because a retail mall cannot operate without active security, NexGen Solutions was tasked with engineering a "hot swap" migration—meaning this massive digital transition had to be executed with absolutely zero operational downtime or security blind spots.
To solve this, our engineering team designed a phased IT infrastructure and server deployment. First, we focused on the physical server room modernization. We installed high-capacity, enterprise-grade storage servers designed specifically for heavy, continuous video writing.
Once the backbone was stabilized, our network engineers began the meticulous process of migrating the 194 HD cameras. By strategically segmenting the local area network (LAN) and optimizing the bandwidth, we successfully routed the camera feeds to the new servers. This required rigorous active testing of the network switches and cabling to ensure that the high-definition video packets were delivered without latency, frame drops, or data loss.
Completed successfully in November 2024, the infrastructure overhaul transformed Panorama Mall's security capabilities. The security control room now operates with a highly responsive, centralized dashboard, allowing guards to retrieve high-definition footage instantly. Furthermore, by upgrading the data storage capabilities, the facility easily meets the strict video retention and security guidelines mandated by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and the Muscat Municipality (MCC). NexGen delivered a robust, scalable security ecosystem that protects the mall’s assets today and is fully prepared for future expansions.
